In this lesson you will learn two new sounds, the hard ‘G’ and ‘K’. The ‘K’ sound is made by both the letter ‘K’ and the letter ‘C’. The letter ‘G’ makes two different sounds, the hard ‘G’ and the soft ‘G’. The soft ‘G’ sound is like the ‘J’ sound. This lesson we will practice the hard ‘G’ sound.
Some of the words that use these sounds are “gold” and “cold”, “gale” and “kale” and “bag” and “back”.

In this lesson you will learn two new sounds, ‘L’ and ‘R’. These two sounds are very difficult for some people to hear and say. This is especially true for speakers of languages like Japanese and Chinese. It is very important for you to be good at these two sounds. Very many English words are the same except for ‘L’ and ‘R’. For example “light” and “right” or “lice” and “rice”. It can be embarassing to say “I eat lice” when you want to say “I eat rice”. If you have problems with ‘L’ and ‘R’, please practice with this lesson several times.
In this lesson you will practice saying the “H” and “Y” sounds. Many of the words in this lesson are words for sounds — like “yow” or “ah” or “yay”. They might be hard to find in dictionaries.
