UGoEigo offers two video podcast series to help you learn English pronunciation: “English Sounds” and “Functional Phrases”. Each lesson shows a close-up of the mouth saying the target sounds and words. Watch the video and say the words. Move your mouth the same way as the video — pretend that the screen is a mirror. This will help you make the sounds and words correctly.
How can you get UGoEigo’s podcasts? If you have iTunes, the easiest way is to click the grey button and subscribe in . Each new podcast will then be downloaded. Another easy way is to use the RSS feed with your favorite newsreader. Or you can watch each episode here on the website.
Finally, read the UGoEigo blog for the latest news updates, recommendations of other ESL sites and reviews of ESL materials.

English Sounds

Each “English Sounds” podcast teaches you two different English sounds. These sounds are a little bit alike, but actually different. These video lessons help you practice saying each sound and quizes you on the differences.

English Sounds Lesson 1: B and P
English Sounds Lesson 2: F and V
English Sounds Lesson 3: B and V
English Sounds Lesson 4: Tongue-Twisters 1
English Sounds Lesson 5: F and H
English Sounds Lesson 6: H and W
English Sounds Lesson 7: H and Y
English Sounds Lesson 8: L and R
English Sounds Lesson 9: G and K

Functional Phrases

Each “Functional Phrases” podcast teaches you about five English phrases for a topic (like greetings). The lessons are short, but focus on commonly used sentences. Practicing with the video will help you improve saying full sentences.

Functional Phrases 1: Greetings
Functional Phrases 2: Doing Fine
Functional Phrases 3: Goodbye!
Functional Phrases 4: Names
Functional Phrases 5: Introductions
Functional Phrases 6: Service

I am planning a new website feature called “Please say it for me.” Is there a word or phrase that is hard for you to say? If so, send it to me. I will collect them and put video on the website for you (and everyone else). This will not be a podcast, only on the website (to make it simple for me). Also it will be my choice which phrases to post. So please email me your problem phrases!

Hello and welcome to UGoEigo.com’s website. I hope I can help improve your English with my podcasts and other lessons. My goal is to provide you with three podcast a week, along with other content. First I will be making a series of video podcasts to teach basic English pronunciation. These videos will feature close-ups of my mouth as I say the words and sounds being taught. You should try to say the words with me, mimicking my mouth movements. The video podcasts will be in two formats, one for the Apple iPod (and computers using Quicktime) and the Sony PSP. Please let me know if they are helpful.
