In this “Functional Phrases” lesson, you will practice how to respond to the greetings in lesson 1. For example, in lesson 1 you learned “How are you?” There are many different ways to reply:

- I’m fine, thank you.
- Fine, thanks. And you?
- I’m doing fine. How about you?
- I’m O.K.
- I’m alright.
- I’m doing O.K.
- Eh, not bad.
The first one is the most polite. You can mix the “thank you”, “thanks”, “And you?” and “How about you?” with different replies, like “Eh, not bad. How about you?”
“I’m doing fine” can be changed to “I’m doing alright” too.
