English Sounds ESL Podcast 8In this lesson you will learn two new sounds, ‘L’ and ‘R’. These two sounds are very difficult for some people to hear and say. This is especially true for speakers of languages like Japanese and Chinese. It is very important for you to be good at these two sounds. Very many English words are the same except for ‘L’ and ‘R’. For example “light” and “right” or “lice” and “rice”. It can be embarassing to say “I eat lice” when you want to say “I eat rice”. If you have problems with ‘L’ and ‘R’, please practice with this lesson several times.
